Welcome to Paris Fashion Week !!!
The shows season has started and models run from Paris to Milano, London or New York. For a month castings, go and see, fittings, before reaching the Graal and walk in Haute Couture or designers shows ...
For some posts we will answer the many questions we received and try to provide you the keys to understand what seems crazy for normal people :-))
Ok. first :
Why is it so important to be in a show ?
Shows provide a new face an unique opportunity to get noticed, to get international exposure. All the photographers, all the designers, all the press and Tv are there. They look for the new trends of course, but also have eyes wide open to be the first to work with the new "en vogue" model. For a model, in a few weeks you get more exposure than in one year of magazine editos....
To open a show or close one is majorily for super models or egeries of the designer, but in the army of models who appear in each show some will appear two , three , four times, ... it means , or people think, they are this year new face ... lily cole, gemma ward, each season brings some new names ... they suddenly appear in several shows, jump from the legions of look alike models - sometimes for some unclear and unpredictable reason, people will explain later that they had the style which fitted the "air du temps" - then every one finds them exceptional and they become the "must" for the whole profession. Magazines start to request them, photographers wish to have test with them or an edito, and later on, for the luckiest ones, advertising offer them a campaign.
So , first answer, doing shows may not make you rich but it can make you famous or visible...
See you for next post : how much can you get for a show ?
